Seven Prep School pupils braved the elements last weekend to represent Harrow Hong Kong at the Boase Cohen & Collins Inter-Schools Sailing Festival (9th-10th March 2019).
Hosted by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club at its Middle Island centre, the championship welcomed 155 young sailors competing in 22 teams and representing 17 educational establishments from across the SAR.
Harrow Hong Kong competed at the event for the first time in 2018, with the School’s young team showing some marked improvements in this year’s edition, winning three out of five of their matches in the close and tactical team racing format.
Racing in the Pico Class amid a variety of weather conditions, they conquered Kellett School and Hong Kong International School, and lost out to ISF Academy and Tai Po Regional Squad before finishing on a high against South Island School with a Harrow 1,2,3 across the finish line.
“The boys and girls have improved massively since last year’s competition, winning three from five matches and showing clear signs of tactical progression and execution,” said Ms Nikki Woodroffe, Deputy Head Co-Curricular and External Links.
“Next year we look forward to some additional younger sailors, who will reinforce the strength of the team. The pupils are a very young team and show much promise for the years to come.”
