Harrow International School Hong Kong hosted the first inter-school live art competition The Big Brush Off on 14 April 2016. The exciting event aims to celebrate upcoming artistic talents within Hong Kong schools, encouraging teamwork and involving audience participation.
Teams of three students from five different schools across Hong Kong were armed with only black markers, paint and a large board to fill with their interpretation of the theme ‘Hong Kong: Present, Past and Future’. They were given only 75 minutes in which to work together and create their piece. Our guest judge Ms Lou Haining gave some great feedback to all the teams at the end of the event and announced her difficult decisions. Congratulations to Renaissance College for winning with their great composition combining a dragon and self portraits of their team with other imagery related to the history and politics of the area.
Harrow International School Head of Art Mr R. Stratton commented to say “the main idea of today was to get some schools together through Art and to have some fun. We hope to do even bigger competitions in the future and get the crowd involved to help the judging too. A big thanks to everyone who was involved.”
