On 6 October, the Lower School’s Make a Difference ECA group have decided to support the locally based charity Plastic Free Seas in its mission to clean up the beaches of Hong Kong.
To understand the problem first hand, the young students in the group visited a local beach today to judge for themselves the extent of the rubbish littering on our shores. As they completed a simple litter survey, the group were surprised by the terrible amount of rubbish that they found and in particular the amount of plastic bottles that covered the beach.
After a short litter pick resulting in three large rubbish bags filled with plastic bottles the students returned to school even more determined to make a difference to the situation that they discovered. They are now ready to raise awareness of the problem in the School and think of more ways that they can support the charity.
