Harrow Hong Kong pupil Venezia (Year 11, Gellhorn), was selected as one of the players to represent Hong Kong at the 2018 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Women’s T20 Cup in Bangkok from 5-14 March.
Having played three out of five matches for Hong Kong’s senior women against Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, Venezia and her team won the match against Malaysia.
“The experience of the cricket tour was fantastic!,” Venezia said of the tour. “It has also broadened my horizons and I have met a lot of players from around Asia, and from Tanzania.”
The pupil recalled the first time she played cricket, she was only five years old. She persuaded her parents to start her cricketing journey, and she has been passionate about the sport ever since.
Venezia explained: “I am very grateful that Harrow Hong Kong has given me the flexibility to take part in the tour, and that I am able to strike a balance between my studies and extra-curricular activities.”
Having participated in a number of tournaments, Venezia told us that her next goal is to join the ICC Women’s World T20, Asia Qualifier in late 2018.
Harrow Hong Kong wishes Venezia every success for the future.
